Topic 1: Prognostication request – Is shared workspace going to be the largest source of New Jargon in 2022?

Do you know what “Benching” or “Desking” are? You could probably guess what shared desking is.

We look at the possibilities of future workspace. There is clearly more than one answer.

Topic 2: Don’t Gloat About Your Competitors’ Troubles

Wherein we examine the difference between your marketing blog and your technology/security blog. You can be really great from the security viewpoint, but we discuss whether that discussion should leak over to the marketing side of the house.

Corporate marketing is not the place to talk about your competitors’ security issues.

Topic 3: Karl loses a one dollar bet on driverless cars

And other “cutting edge” technologies have also not fared as well. How much is just hype and how much is just slower than we projected?

Topic 3: CA DMV ‘revisiting’ its approach to regulating Tesla’s public self-driving test

For years, Tesla has tested autonomous vehicle technology on public roads without reporting the results to the California Department of Motor Vehicles. All other car makers are required to report this data.

And then . . . viral videos of horrible Tesla accidents have put pressure on the DMV to stop this special treatment. Among other things, this reminds us of Boeing validating its own safety tests on the 737 Max.

Please Note: There are a few mentions in this episode of our upcoming Cybersecurity Expo in Phoenix.

As we’re sure you’re already aware, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has meant that it’s now vital to limit social contact and avoid gathering. For that reason, out of an abundance of caution, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone our Live In Person Cybersecurity Expo in Phoenix to September 14 & 15, 2022. While we know this is disappointing, we hope you can understand the steps we’re taking to help keep our staff and attendees safe.

What happens next?

All registered attendees will be contacted by Robin Miller in the coming week so that she can facilitate moving your registration to the new September dates.

For those who have not yet registered, great news…we will be announcing in the coming week our next live in person event at the end of March this year. We are finalizing locations and dates as we speak…stay tuned!

Topic 1: F.T.C. Sues to Stop Blockbuster Chip Deal Between Nvidia and Arm

Arm provides technology that other chip makers need. Does this give Nvidia an unfair advantage? And is the merger a completely unnecessary move prompted by the need for investors to show a profit?

What is the channel takeaway?

Topic 2: What will smartphones be like in ten years?

Topic 3: AWS Announces IoT TwinMaker to Accelerate the Creation of Digital Twins

One of Ryan’s favorite topics. Well, it’s here! Will you get a digital twin for Christmas next year?

More than a static “snapshot,” digital twins are data-driven representations of things like in the real world, updated with real- or almost real-time data so we can study potential behavior of the things they represent. AWS has built a system so you can play with this technology and find new uses for it.
